Here are our options:
Option 1: March into the rental office (with copy of signed contract in hand) and demand financial compensation for the hotel we might have to stay in for three weeks.
Option 2: Bring up Austin's parents tent trailer and park it at Wal-mart. We could take showers at the gym and be 115% white-trash.
Option 3: Find another apartment that isn't going to cost us both arms and legs to live in for the next 4 months.
Option 4 (proposed by my parents): Find another newly wed couple and ask if we can sleep on their couch. This so would not work for about a million different reasons that I bet you could guess.
There ya have it! We will most likely be pitching a tent in somebody's back yard. Or we will be making a sign that says "If the car's a-rockin' don't come a-knockin'" to put on our trailer.
We're so classy.

ReplyDeleteWell, you don't have much time, so I might just go with option 1. You could count the hotel stay as an extended honeymoon. And the owners may suddenly have the apt ready earlier if you're a little pushy, too. I really hate confrontations, so it would be hard for me to do it, but sometimes you just have to stand up for your rights. Good Luck!

ReplyDeletedo you have any friends with a 2- room apt- you could rent their room for the interim- if- and only if - option 1 and Grandma's suggestion doesn't work-- Do you want me to ask my friends if you can stay with them? They are our good friends from here- he was our bishop- then they moved up there-

ReplyDeleteGreat suggestions guys! We talked to the rental company and we should have a place to stay by Friday. If they don't find us one, they'll pay us to void our contract.
